From the Pastor’s Desk
October 2007
May you find your way in peace . .
. sounds like the title to a serenity poem or song, or possibly a
pastoral blessing during morning worship.
It could also be a person searching and striving for the
kingdom
of
God
. I believe finding peace
in life has less to do with the circumstances of life surrounding us,
and more to do with our inner life.
Take time to routinely search your soul and open your heart to
the spirit of God. Do you
know what a mustard seed looks like?
I plan to bring one to church soon for a children’s circle
illustration. It is very
small. Smaller than the
point of a ballpoint pen. It
is easy to overlook if your not looking at it or for it.
Jesus compared the
kingdom
of
God
to a mustard seed. “What
is the
kingdom
of
God
like? And to what should I compare it? It is like a mustard seed that
someone took and sowed in the garden; it grew and became a tree, and
the birds of the air made nests in its branches” (Luke
13:18
,19). Finding peace in our
life means attaching our life to the
kingdom
of
God
. The
kingdom
of
God
, like the mustard seed, is easily overlooked if we don’t open up
spiritually and see through our eyes of faith.
What a revelation it is to know that something so small and
easily missed has the growth potential to become our dwelling place.
May you find your way in
peace . . . and know that the
blessings of God abound like the trees of the field and the birds of
the air.
